SELECTED PROJECTS

Meta Aphrodisiac

  • This is the first project for the Master's in Art Direction and New Narratives, and we were asked to generate a concept related to illusions, using flowers as a language to convey it. To achieve this, we had the support of the floral art studio Flowers by Bornay, based in Barcelona. The starting point of concept “Meta Aphrodisiac” was a question about new aphrodisiacs for the new generations (Gen Z).

  • To reach an answer for this, we need to understand who these new generations are, in which context are they living and sexually awakening, which are the attributes of the era they’ve been born and how these affect them.

It is a generation that has sexually matured in a (post) pandemic context, in an era of social distance, masks that cover their face, with all the insecurities that this can provoque, and where it is a lot talked about mental health. A present with the global warming issue where there’s a huge feeling of insecurity regarding the future, and no hope to be able to have a stable job, family or even a secure home.

We were already living in a present dominated by the digital, the social networks and advanced technologies, but this recent social reality has increased this tendency, leading to  the actual era of the digital life, where people, and above all young people, is getting used to coexist with it and all the “advantages” this brings.

As a result, we’ve concluded that the new aphrodisiac is a lot related to this. It is no longer linked to a substance, nor food or drugs, not even linked to senses as smell, taste or touch, as it was before. Nowadays, the new aphrodisiac is more abstract, what young generations desire and are pleased of is the rapidity of information, the pleasure of having what you want in just one touch of the screen, to ask for something, or demand it, and to obtain it instantly, without having to wait for it to happen in an unlikely future.

Iceland / Magazine_Instinkt_MADNNmag_issue2
For the master’s trip to Iceland, in groups, we think of an article related to the topic “instinct”, and we develop a series of analog photographies to illustrate our text. As the graphic design team we were in charge to create the layout and rules for the magazine and each article.

Since the topic for this issue is “instinct”, we tried to make the journey through the magazine something also instinctive, not only with colors and sensations but creating a specific typography from scratch, which came up from our passage in the island.

Magazine edited in group with Guillermo Lubiano, Dina Stescovich, Lorena Ceresoli, Alessandro d’Amico and Anna Belkina.

Iceland / Article_We Danced

For the master’s trip to Iceland, in groups, we think of an article related to the topic “instinct”, and we develop a series of analog photographies to illustrate our text. Our article “We danced” tries to narrate a love story between a human and the landscape, from the moment they meet each other, passing through the different phases of a toxic relationship. The narration comes from the landscape itself, describing how it percieves every new feeling and every new touch, and how it ends up rejecting her.

“At first there was nothing, we were alone in our noise. That doesn't mean we were sad, far from it. We hadn't come from anywhere, we had been there all our lives like clouds and water and like the wind that carves our faces and erodes our bodies. Nor were we in any hurry, we walked slowly without regard for minutes or seconds, although at that time no one had yet invented time.

We were alone between ice and fire. Rivers sprung up and gave us life under a blue roof. A roof. Sometimes blue. Sometimes not a roof. Sometimes his eyes turn gray and he cries for us. Or maybe he just wants to sleep and asks us for silence. Shhhhh. We are never sure. But we like it.

Sometimes after the tears we feel warmer, but what covers us is a cold blanket. It is a covering that leaves us when the sun comes to visit. And lives sprout. And the stones and the leaves swallow the tears. And our sisters arrive, with their four legs that tickle our bellies, that step on us, but we like that already. It has always been like that. And we don't like it because it has always been like that. We like it because they are our sisters, those little legs, and we love them.
Sometimes the fire comes and our sisters run. Others fly. We don't mind the fire, but it seems they do. We change our skin with its arrival, in a ritual of transformation that gives us new perspectives and amuses us to see those shapes. They are new colors. But those colors never stay. They are passionate and fleeting when they come. They leave no corner of us uncaressed, and we give up everything to have their attention. Then they get tired of us. Or so we think. They become the same colors as ours, but they don't stay. They leave only stones in their wake. And we feel a little heavier and, exhausted, we rest. “

Piece of the article, the full text is in our magazine “instinkt”.

Shellterr_Alter Ego

In the heart of the deepest and most enchanted forest resides a mystical being named Shellterr. With a shell-like head and a humanoid body, she lives solitary, withdrawn from the outside world, among ancient trees and murmuring streams.

It is said that her presence is like a gentle breeze that caresses the souls of travelers who venture into these enchanted woods. Like a refuge for the mind, she listens to the concerns and fears of travelers, offering them comfort and guidance.

Although she is hardly seen and her appearances are rare, the legend of Shellterr spreads through the most remote corners of the forests like the song of birds through the trees’ leaves. She is revered as a spiritual guide and a source of renewal for all who seek inner peace and mental clarity amidst the tumultuous waters of life. Her influence endures, reminding creatures that there is always a refuge for the soul amidst nature and that the renewal of the spirit is an eternal journey towards inner peace.

Col·lisió

Photographies by Fabio Di Pietrantonio

Col·lisió was the event organized by the students of the second edition of the Master’s in Art Direction and New Narratives (MADNN) at Elisava, which aimed to create an experience from its concept to its production. It took place on February 8 in Room 3 of Apolo, an iconic club in Barcelona.

The event was born out of the overwhelming collective experience of arriving in Barcelona as foreigners and the subsequent process of weaving a community. In this way, it embodies the clash between diversity and the power of communities through metaphorical acts that reflect a collision and the sensations that emerge from it.

Persistance of Singularity
Project created in collaboration with House of Rowdy (who provided us with the clothing) and Metro Cuadrado studio (who supplied us with accessories and jewelry).

This was a workshop where we selected a pair of garments, in our case from Just Cavalli, and developed a concept to work with and generate three images representing it. Subsequently, we carried out the art direction, selecting the backdrop, the model, and the lighting design with the support of My Fucking Studio, where we conducted the photoshoot.

The result is Persistence of Singularity, a series of photographs that speak to persistence despite rust, decay, and time. Through Cavalli, we convey a force of light and movement that emanates sensuality and uniqueness.

It is a stool with a lot of personality. A seat that can be associated with a bar counter or venture out to colonize other spaces.
It allows for informal use as a support along its entire perimeter, but it also features a footrest in a front-facing position. The heights of both the seat and the footrest comply with the standard measurements of commercial stools. It is made from 50mm diameter bent steel tubing. The connection point between the base and the seat includes an internal reinforcement, making it strong and suitable for everyone, regardless of weight.

The upholstered seat functions as a cap that fits snugly onto the tubular structure. Its design is inspired by the industrial aesthetic of the Torres Brothers' restaurant, but with a playful and contemporary twist.

LÉKUÉ_KIT TO GO
The project focuses on creating new packaging for a selection of products from the Lékué brand, with which we are collaborating.

A pack of three of their products was designed to allow users to take them along for an outdoor meal. The goal of this packaging is to provide users who bring their meals with a reusable solution for their utensils, enabling them to carry it wherever they wish. This approach gives a second life to the packaging in which the products are delivered.
Additionally, the packaging is designed so that the products do not require any additional materials or wrapping, minimizing costs and reducing material usage to the fullest extent. Its unfolded shape allows it to be stacked, optimizing space for transporting the maximum number of units.

Project realised in group with Felix Stockhausen, Núria Radresa and Tomás González.

La Colmena

Design of the applied graphics for the shop window of the La Colmena pastry shop during the contest 2021 Christmas season, as part of the “Els llums de Nadal il·luminen el comerç” (Christmas Lights Illuminate Commerce), promoted by Barcelona Centre de Disseny.

Project realized in group with Elisabet Català, Maria Reig, Lucia-Aran Garrido and Maria Jou.
An optical illusion achieved through the play and positioning of various mirrors, designed to toy with the mind as if it were a magic trick. It will evoke feelings of fascination, uncertainty, and unease about everything we currently consider infinite and real.

Like an ancient secret, the vinyl leaves four small openings: three of them allow observers to peer into the carefully hidden space and lose themselves in it, while the fourth projects a beam of light.

This is a space that demands to be observed, aiming to capture the attention of all who pass by, thanks to a strong interior light that projects outward, dazzling its surroundings.

The installation seeks to provoke thought and reflection on the representation of reality or what we perceive as familiar—the reflection as a mimesis of the real world, the fine line separating the real from the unreal, and the vastness of space through repetition.

Ether
A hybrid service between the digital and physical world that aims to fulfill the desire to leave and deliver a farewell audio message to our loved ones in a very close and sensitive way after our passing.Project realised in group with Elosabet Català, Maria Reig, Martina Renascimento, Lucía-Arán Garrido, Aina Arandes, Maria Jou and Aina González.
Life is a collection of experiences, emotions, and people who shape us. However, life is finite, and the pain of losing someone leaves an irreplaceable void. We cling to memories, imagining their presence, laughter, or voice to ease the emptiness. Hearing, a powerful sense, can vividly evoke memories, making us feel connected to those we've lost. The desire for closure, a final goodbye, or unsaid words is deeply human. Recognizing this, our design team created a service enabling individuals to leave farewell messages for loved ones. Embracing the digital age, we leverage technology to preserve these meaningful, lasting connections.
