Meta Aphrodisiac
- This is the first project for the Master's in Art Direction and New Narratives, and we were asked to generate a concept related to illusions, using flowers as a language to convey it. To achieve this, we had the support of the floral art studio Flowers by Bornay, based in Barcelona. The starting point of concept “Meta Aphrodisiac” was a question about new aphrodisiacs for the new generations (Gen Z).
-
To reach an answer for this, we need to understand who these new generations are, in which context are they living and sexually awakening, which are the attributes of the era they’ve been born and how these affect them.
It is a generation that has sexually matured in a (post) pandemic context, in an era of social distance, masks that cover their face, with all the insecurities that this can provoque, and where it is a lot talked about mental health. A present with the global warming issue where there’s a huge feeling of insecurity regarding the future, and no hope to be able to have a stable job, family or even a secure home.
We were already living in a present dominated by the digital, the social networks and advanced technologies, but this recent social reality has increased this tendency, leading to the actual era of the digital life, where people, and above all young people, is getting used to coexist with it and all the “advantages” this brings.
As a result, we’ve concluded that the new aphrodisiac is a lot related to this. It is no longer linked to a substance, nor food or drugs, not even linked to senses as smell, taste or touch, as it was before. Nowadays, the new aphrodisiac is more abstract, what young generations desire and are pleased of is the rapidity of information, the pleasure of having what you want in just one touch of the screen, to ask for something, or demand it, and to obtain it instantly, without having to wait for it to happen in an unlikely future.
Since the topic for this issue is “instinct”, we tried to make the journey through the magazine something also instinctive, not only with colors and sensations but creating a specific typography from scratch, which came up from our passage in the island.
“At first there was nothing, we were alone in our noise. That doesn't mean we were sad, far from it. We hadn't come from anywhere, we had been there all our lives like clouds and water and like the wind that carves our faces and erodes our bodies. Nor were we in any hurry, we walked slowly without regard for minutes or seconds, although at that time no one had yet invented time.
We were alone between ice and fire. Rivers sprung up and gave us life under a blue roof. A roof. Sometimes blue. Sometimes not a roof. Sometimes his eyes turn gray and he cries for us. Or maybe he just wants to sleep and asks us for silence. Shhhhh. We are never sure. But we like it.
Sometimes the fire comes and our sisters run. Others fly. We don't mind the fire, but it seems they do. We change our skin with its arrival, in a ritual of transformation that gives us new perspectives and amuses us to see those shapes. They are new colors. But those colors never stay. They are passionate and fleeting when they come. They leave no corner of us uncaressed, and we give up everything to have their attention. Then they get tired of us. Or so we think. They become the same colors as ours, but they don't stay. They leave only stones in their wake. And we feel a little heavier and, exhausted, we rest. “

It is said that her presence is like a gentle breeze that caresses the souls of travelers who venture into these enchanted woods. Like a refuge for the mind, she listens to the concerns and fears of travelers, offering them comfort and guidance.
Although she is hardly seen and her appearances are rare, the legend of Shellterr spreads through the most remote corners of the forests like the song of birds through the trees’ leaves. She is revered as a spiritual guide and a source of renewal for all who seek inner peace and mental clarity amidst the tumultuous waters of life. Her influence endures, reminding creatures that there is always a refuge for the soul amidst nature and that the renewal of the spirit is an eternal journey towards inner peace.
Col·lisió was the event organized by the students of the second edition of the Master’s in Art Direction and New Narratives (MADNN) at Elisava, which aimed to create an experience from its concept to its production. It took place on February 8 in Room 3 of Apolo, an iconic club in Barcelona.
The event was born out of the overwhelming collective experience of arriving in Barcelona as foreigners and the subsequent process of weaving a community. In this way, it embodies the clash between diversity and the power of communities through metaphorical acts that reflect a collision and the sensations that emerge from it.

- Project created in collaboration with House of Rowdy (who provided us with the clothing) and Metro Cuadrado studio (who supplied us with accessories and jewelry).
This was a workshop where we selected a pair of garments, in our case from Just Cavalli, and developed a concept to work with and generate three images representing it. Subsequently, we carried out the art direction, selecting the backdrop, the model, and the lighting design with the support of My Fucking Studio, where we conducted the photoshoot.
The result is Persistence of Singularity, a series of photographs that speak to persistence despite rust, decay, and time. Through Cavalli, we convey a force of light and movement that emanates sensuality and uniqueness.
It is a stool with a lot of personality. A seat that can be associated with a bar counter or venture out to colonize other spaces.
It allows for informal use as a support along its entire perimeter, but it also features a footrest in a front-facing position. The heights of both the seat and the footrest comply with the standard measurements of commercial stools. It is made from 50mm diameter bent steel tubing. The connection point between the base and the seat includes an internal reinforcement, making it strong and suitable for everyone, regardless of weight.
The upholstered seat functions as a cap that fits snugly onto the tubular structure. Its design is inspired by the industrial aesthetic of the Torres Brothers' restaurant, but with a playful and contemporary twist.
A pack of three of their products was designed to allow users to take them along for an outdoor meal. The goal of this packaging is to provide users who bring their meals with a reusable solution for their utensils, enabling them to carry it wherever they wish. This approach gives a second life to the packaging in which the products are delivered.
Like an ancient secret, the vinyl leaves four small openings: three of them allow observers to peer into the carefully hidden space and lose themselves in it, while the fourth projects a beam of light.
This is a space that demands to be observed, aiming to capture the attention of all who pass by, thanks to a strong interior light that projects outward, dazzling its surroundings.
The installation seeks to provoke thought and reflection on the representation of reality or what we perceive as familiar—the reflection as a mimesis of the real world, the fine line separating the real from the unreal, and the vastness of space through repetition.
